Considering COP29 the United Nations climate change conference to be held in Baku soon, visa and accommodation arrangements have been made to receive thousands of delegates while the thematic days to be covered during the conference are as follows.
Recent preparatory activities include the country’s preparation for cop 29 that is scheduled for November 2024 as well as measures to ensure easy admission and accommodation for participants. The measures include designing a special COP29 electronic visa with reference to COP29 as COP29 visa nicknamed ‘COP29 visa’, which would be granted to all the registered participants without any charges. This visa, which allows the holder singlesingle entryerbaijan, is however valid until the 30th of November, 2024. According to the details presented participants are encouraged to get their visas on an early date after confirming their registration other wise till miss them.
Apart from visa provisions, the government of Azerbaijan has provided avenues to meet accommodation demand as a result of the increasing numbers. Working with local suppliers, the government has secured different types of accommodation such as hotel rooms, service apartments and other facilities to be booked and paidfor for through the conference’s official accommodation website.
Under the theme, ‘In Solidarity for a Green World,’ COP29’s Presidency-Designate, Mukhtar Babayev, announced the aims and objectives of Azerbaijan via a letter to member states. The conference is going to hold formal sessions of negotiation as per the framework of the UNFCCC alongside the array of events, dialogues, high-level discussions, and side events, too.
COP29 prescribes itself a package of Thematic Days that is supposed to guarantee every issue is addressed in detail. The conference will commence starting from the 11th of November after which the World Leaders Climate Action Summit will occur on the 12th and 13th of November. Future thematic days are planned, for example, for such sections as Finance, Investment and Trade (November 14), Energy and Peace (November 15), and and Science, Technology and Innovation (November 16).
Other key topics include Human Capital and Youth on November 18, Food and Agriculture on November 19, and Urbanization and Biodiversity on November 20-21, with final negotiations set for November 22. These Thematic Days are intended to facilitate deeper exploration of interconnected climate issues, bringing together government representatives, scientists, activists, and industry leaders to collaborate on comprehensive solutions. By organizing discussions around specific themes, COP29 aims to drive ambitious and coordinated action to tackle the global climate crisis effectively.
