Anhar: Culture and Climate Platform begins with a three-tiered open request for projects that meaningfully connect with the climate emergency. Individual artists, collectives, and cultural organisations based in eligible MENA countries are invited to submit suggestions.
It builds on findings and important priorities from the Culture and Climate Summit, a two-day workshop and seminar exploring culture’s role in addressing the climate emergency, jointly organised by Art Jameel and the British Council in March 2023. It is specifically designed to diversify and increase support for practitioners in the Arab world.

- ssist cultural groups with the renovation of premises for the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency, as well as the installation of procedures meant to monitor and cut waste and carbon emissions.
- Encourage innovative and imaginative methods of producing culture that prioritise intersectional, local, and community-based viewpoints.
- Build a regional network of cultural practitioners involved in the climate emergency while promoting peer-to-peer exchange, meaningful connections, international cooperation, and multidisciplinary work.
